Kubota L4850

Great purchase! I'm happy for anyone who finds and buys an L3 machine - the L4850 is an outstanding tractor, strong and bulletproof. This one has some nice options - air pre-filter, aux hyd oil cooler, wheel weights - is that a 4-in-1 bucket?

Don't be too concerned about the wet clutches - they are very strong. As with any clutch, excessive slipping isn't recommended. When using the shuttle to engage travel, its valving provides a uniform clutch application with minimum slip. Using the foot-controlled valve it's likely to slip more as it engages. Its an operator technique thing. From your questions its clear you already have the right things in mind - any clutch lasts longer if it slips less. Shifting at reduced rpm is sensible. Engaging with a smaller speed/rpm/direction mismatch is always easier on the clutch than with a big mismatch.

Congratulations on the find - best luck with it, Dick B

Speaking fwd-rev shifting has anyone had the linkage get hard to shift when going from fwd to neutral? After sitting for 3 months I had to tap the little lever on the side of the transmission down by your left foot with a screwdriver to get it to shift. I lubed the visible portions of the linkage but much of it is in the steering column and I haven't pulled that apart yet. It almost feels like the lever has over traveled and I am pushing somewhat dead centered but the little lever down by the left foot is at about 11 o'clock when in forward. No issues going from reverse to neutral. L5450 Everclutch.
