I have been considering a Kubota L48TLB and have noticed some mention of an introduction by Kubota of an L49 TLB. My dealer did mumble at one time during negotiations for the L48 that it was going to be "discontinued"
when he was trying to convince me to buy an L39 he had on the lot...

Does anyone know when if at all this machine will be available?

Would this make the existing L48 TLBs any cheaper to buy?

What changes to the existing L48 might be made in the L49?

What changes would you like to see made in the new model L49?

Do you think it would be similar to the L39 only larger?

There dont seem to many good used L48s around here ( North East).

Thanks

Don't count on this to happen. I have been looking at "leftover" L4330 w/cab tractors and no one I could find is giving any real "deals" except for the $1500 Kubota factory rebate. Although Kubota did lower the list prices from a year ago on the Grand L-30's.

I too have heard the L-48 will soon be replaced with an L-49. My dealer is telling me it will be at least $41,000.

I just came back from my Kubota dealer. I'm to sell an L-39 to a buyer they might have for me.

To me, it seems awfull foolish for Kubota to come out with one (1) horse power more than they have now. I have a 48 and it has been flawless in operation. Why would they come with just one more HP? I could see it if they came out with a 55 or more and maybe 12 ft hoe instead of the 11's the 48's have now.

Larry, it won't just be a 1HP improvement, Kubota is not that foolish. The L48 as nice as it is, has plenty of room for improvement. At $41,000 however, I could think of some very nice used industrials that may be a possible alternative for some folks. As nice as the Kubota L48, L39 and JD 110 are, they are no where near the heavy duty indsustrial design of a true industrial hoe. But then, you don't tow them with just a pickup truck either.

Tractor by net ought to add a new discussion on TLB's.

This has nothing to do with Kubota or Deere.

I was contacted a few months ago by a major heavy equipment manufacturer seeking my opinion in a marketing investigation regarding what I would be looking for in a small industrial TLB.

I will not divulge who it was as they asked me not to and paid me for my time.

Here is where they are developing
Cost $50,000 without cab
+$55,000 with full modern cab with all the conveniences.
HP 65
Hydrostatic transmission.
12’ hoe.
Max 12.000 Lbs
Max 84’ bucket
They asked about all the features
Seriously considering Joystick full pilot control option
4 speed hydro.
Extending hoe option.
Hydraulic thumb
Super fancy cab options.
They asked what I thought and how much I would pay for each feature.
I made it clear I wanted stout, Big tires, beefy axles especially the front, and real tight turn radius. I stressed option for 4 in 1 bucket, lots of breakout force on loader and BH. Sturdy stabilizers, strong boom swing force and everything user and maintenance friendly.

Build a mini industrial like that, pilot controls, thick steel and much sturdier longer wearing bushings on the hoe and loader then what the current crop of TLB's have and you will have water agencys, construction types etc., buying them up like crazy. I see no issues with the current TLBs with regards to front axles, the JD 110 and L48 have no reports of broken front axles and I think the tires, especially the rears are plenty stout enough. Big front tires equal smaller turning radius or much wider stance or super skinny tractor, at least this is what was explained to me. 4N1's are pretty much a option now on any TLB. Thumb would be excellent option...

Sounds like a Case 480 4x4 or a JD 210 4x4...machines that were built over 20 years ago....... Nothing new there except a super fancy cab.....

heck, here's a model that fits that exact description made by JCB for close to 12 years:2001 JCB 212S For Sale at MachineryTrader.com

Nope, I was not writing about the JCB 212, but another brand we all know.

I always liked the JCB looks and layout. Have they been reliable?

I expect they run about $60,000 + up new.
