Kubota BX25D 2018
Upgrading to a larger tractor from my BX25D. Ordered a Kubota L6060 a few weeks ago (62 hp engine, 53 hp PTO.) Was told today they are on back order with no estimated delivery date. "Probably months or by spring." per the dealer. They have a L5460 in stock. Identical specs for lifting, hauling, speeds, etc but 56 hp engine, 46.5 hp PTO. I plan on timber harvesting, snowblowing/grading a long, steep gravel driveway, running a wood processor via PTO drive, using a forestry winch to haul timber, lifting logs to deck, etc. New at the bigger tractor gig so wondering how much difference the HP is going to make for my intended uses. Should I hold out for the L6060? All opinions/thoughts welcome. Thanks. Best... P.S. Only $1900 difference between the two.

If the 5460 will comfortably handle your PTO wood processer, I say get the 5460. That is still a lot of tractor.

The winch won't use much HP. Many people run theirs at a lower RPM than full PTO power RPM. Lifting logs with the loader (and a grapple?) depends on the loader capacity and tractor weight and not HP. Assuming they have the same loader and weight you won't notice a difference between the two.

Is the 6060 really on back order or is that dealer just trying to sell you the 5460 they have sitting there?
Play like it's really not what you want but you can live with it if they sweeten the deal even more.

The equipment you're planning to use should have minimum HP requirements. If none are borderline or worse with either the L5460 or the L6060, then I'm with ericm: you won't notice the difference.

They both have the exact same engine..
just different tuning to get extra hp on the 6060
I have the L5460, I’m happy with it so far, and it seems to have plenty of power…
Price difference for me was greater than $1900 to go up to the L6060,
If you want the tractor now, so long as it has enough PTO hp for your uses
I think you will be happy with it

You will not look back and wish you had less HP. You may wish for more. You've got by with the little tractor, what's a little longer?

Most likely, as mentioned above, he wants to move his in stock inventory.

I would wait for more hp, you won't regret it. I am very glad I ended up with the M7060 over the M6060. I certainly utilize that extra hp, and every time I am maxed out and it starts bogging, it reminds me how good it is to have gotten the bigger model.
