Tractor Sizing Kubota M5400

I am looking at a used Kubota M5400 SD. Owner is unsure of the year. I think the serial # is 60698. How can I find out what year this tractor is?

Tractors, unlike cars, are not sold by model years.

The owner's invoice will have the sale date.

Tractor model, which changes with major factory modifications, is the "year" equivalent.

M5400 was produced from 1995 through 1999.

How many engine hours are recorded on the dashboard "clock"?

Recorded engine hours NOT always indicitive of actual hours. Older tractors w/ mechanical cables would often break and repairs occur when time allows. Many experienced owners know when PTO output is at optimum, w/o a tachometer. Engine oil analysis is a proven means to determine engine wear. Can be used to guage overall drivetrain wear.

Furthermore some tractors record engine hour from when the key is turned on until it's turned off, regardless if the engine is running. Others record engine hours whenever the engine is running, and others record it based on PTO speed (if the PTO speed is 2,000 rpm and you idle it at 1,000 rpm it takes 2 hours to record one).

The guy that owns the tractor bought it from someone else that had burned up original engine. This engine is new with low hours, not sure how many hours really. Runs like a clock though!
