Kubota M6040 vs. New Holland T4020? Which should I buy?

Thanks Hematite,

So are you suggesting that the 16.9 comes standard on the NH T4020?

I don't really know. There does not seem to be a standard tire listed in any specs so that leads me to believe that there are tire options when the tractor is ordered.

Most stock tractors seem to get ordered with much the same equipment so that's why I would check with the dealer to see if the tire sizes are really different or if he made a typo.

Rear tire size options (R1) for the T4020 are 14.9x28, 16.9x24, 16.9x28 and 16.9x30.

if you are getting the T4020 4x4 like i understand you are for $21,300 that is a great deal. I know new holland has some great cash incentives and financing. Also, people are telling you in comaprison to the kubota as far as the weight to add rear wheel weigths and such, well if the new holland weighs more anyway, why woudl you want to spend more money just to add weight. that didnt make sense. You are getting a great deal. good luck

Thanks jdbnh,

Yup, I went with the New Holland. Both the M6040 and T4020 are great tractors, but the NH fit my needs better and who can complain at $21,300? Looking forward to its delivery this Friday!

I have the Kubota M5040 and I love it! I do everything you are talking about doing and I also put in acres of food plots, a garden etc. No problems pulling a disc harrow at all in hard soil. The back end is a little light when moving heavy 1200lb + round bales with the FEL. I don't have wheel weights or my rear tires filled. I just use the 3 pt bail spear with a bail or hook up my 3 pt box blade for added weight on the back end.
I went with the M5040 because most of the implements are rated for 50hp. I found that implements rated over 50 hp cost a lot more. In addition, the M5040 rear tires are narrow enough to fit on my gooseneck low boy trailer. I thought hard about the M6040 and even the M7040, but so far the the M5040 has worked out really well for me. I don't think you will can wrong with either a Kubota or the New Holland.
