You guys are so right. If you could have seen this supposed Kubota service rep. yesterday at my farm "inspecting" the 7040M, no tools, no guages, no scientific/mechanical instruments. Didn't even use the loader or 3 Point Hitch or operate the vehicle. Listened to it for 4 minutes and noted the pulsing of the metallic lines coming out of the front dash towards the engine when the "clunking noise" occurred and concluded that it was "entrained air in the hydraulic lines" at the power steering system and stated that the warranty is over on 11-17-10. He said he give me a letter, stating what, I don't know, the Dealer won't even look at it at my farm without at least a $100 charge and I really don't know if they are competant enough to handle the job.
This rep says they had a similar problem 3 years ago with a M7040 "clunking at idle" and they tore it apart and couldn't fix it, the customer supposedly ate it.
Guys, I paid over 25 G's for this piece and traded three restored antique irons for it back on 11-08, it only has 160 hours on it. I'm really sick, but I may have a product liability safety issue for an esquire if they won't do anything about it like Triple says, by the way Triple, I'm retired big city east coast law enforcement and I'm working my way up the Kubota ladder, talking to the Divisional Service Manager bright and early on Mon., he's already said its the hydro. oil sudt udt, this should be an interesting conversation!!! NICO worried yet pushing on in N/E PA. Thanks for the back up brothers in this site....Great guys. I'm impressed....."Unity."

I'm a retired State Parole Unit Supervisor with lots of years in the courts and understand the process. It is a **** shame you may have to go this route.

I believe the Service Rep had his mind made up before he got there and based his assessment on what happened with another tractor. That is a p--- poor way to do business and I would be sure to let corporate know. I come from a family of mechanics and not a darned one of them will give you a definitive answer based solely on listening to something. They will tell you what it "probably is, but will do a full diagnostic to make sure. Any good mechanic will tell you the hardest thing they do is troubleshooting and they don't do it by standing there listening to it.

While I yield to no one in my love of Kubotas, if they don't make this right, I would be shopping elsewhere in the future.

Good luck.

Hey Triple; Thanks for the support. I've been in the witness box lots too. Not afraid to go there again, made my living doing that in much more crucial circumstances. You guys, especially leo, is/are so right about product safety concerns in steering systems, especially in the hills and dales of N/E PA. my farm is named: Milehigh Meadows because we're on an escarpment high above the valley, relative to east coast standards. Trip, your right about resale, I'm sure it's all over Appalichia that there's a retired cop from Philly who has a "clunking" $40,000 orange piece suggested retail price only 160 hours on it and a promise of a letter... Well, We'll see if we can work through this amicably, who knows. I'll keep you all apprised, and remember any one of us consumers with any co. could be in the boat that I'm in right now. The luck of the draw as we said in blue. Thanks, great site; NICO pressing on.....in the backwoods of PA

I prefer amicable, but will only go so far down that road. Good luck.

Nico, I am sure you are already doing this, but document everything. Take videos if you can and make sure you get the sounds recorded if possible.

Stay with it, stay positive.
