Sorry I misunderstood I thought you ment you disconnected from inside the cab and moved the handle lever.

I know what you mean about the rubber boot also if you have access to a syringe and needle you can fill it with kroil and stick the needle under the rubber and lube it that way.

Good luck.

I like your needle and syringe idea. I had borrowed a cable luber commonly used on motorcycles but it does not fit.

Here's your sign, (excuse) heated garage::D
Dave do the rubber boots look like they are "in order" on each end? I have 3 rear remotes and never had any trouble but the tractor is kept under roof. This sounds like an issue for the dealer, certainly you should be able to keep a tractor outdoors without these worries. Do you have an electric heat gun? This might be a quick fix until…...

Tractor is in an open sided shed so there is a roof over it but it is exposed to blowing stuff.
The rubbers look like new.
I dont fully understand the style of the cable as there are two rubber seals on each end of the cable.
This afternoon I used a syringe with a long needle to inject methanol under all the seals so time will tell if this solves it.
I get a lot of condensation inside the cab under some snow blowing conditions and I suspect condensation has formed and got inside the cables.
I have a heat gun but until the cab is warm the cable will just re freeze after being thawed.
Will post the results of the injections.

I followed Tailrotor's suggestion and used a syringe to inject methanol under the cable rubber seals. One cable was fixed almost immediately, the other took a number of days but now seems fine. This was a good suggestion!!!! Thanks
