Kubota mid mower versus rear mower

Welcome to TBN:D

A RFM is a lot harder to maneuver in tight places because of the rear swing...and it sounds like you have tight places to mow and go. Taking my MMM off is a 5-minute job and I am sure the Kubota is the same.

I agree!! Taking ours off is 5 minutes max, and not having a sore neck from looking back in tight spots is well worth the extra money, IMHO.

I have used a 60" RFM Landpride (rear discharge) for the past 3 years and it has been great. Once you learn how to turn close to trees, buches, etc...you can get'r pretty darn close. And I do like to back under taller bushes with the RFM...does a pretty good job...something that you can't do with a mid mount mower. The 60" mower does a good job at about 2200 rpm's on my L2800. Considering a quick attach set up...but not in that much of a hurry these days. Takes me about 10 minutes to hock up.

Good luck :)

I would say you might prefer a RFM instead of MMM with the one keyword you mentioned - swampy areas. When you get stuck and unable to crab yourself out with FEL, you can drop the RFM and then get your self out. Using the chain, you can pull your RFM out and reattach with ease. You really cant do that with the MMM when you are knee deep in mud. Don't ask how I know.;)

Swampy areas and MMM is a bad combo. However swampy areas with backhoe and some drain tile is a good combo :p

I have never used an RFM but if it handles anything like my brush hog I can say for a fact that I wouldn't have a square corner on my house, they would all be busted off.

If attaching/re-attaching the MMM is the only reason not to get one I don't think it is compelling. I agree, my BX made attaching the PTO tough but the B3030 has much more room, it really only takes a few minutes on and off, plus, in my garage, I could never get it all in if the RFM was sticking way out.

I have a 60" MMM on my 3710. I went with the 3710 because at the time it was the biggest tractor Kubota offered with a MM PTO. I have a LOT of finish moving to do. 13 hours per mow.

When I get lazy and don't keep up I have to use a big flail mower to cut it down to size and then hit it with the finish mower.........

I have a 60" MMM and it takes all of 5 minutes to put on and take off. I like it because I can hook it up and use my FEL with my ballast on the 3 pt. hitch when I need to use the loader. I don' do this often but it sure is nice to be able to do it. I have used a rear mower and liked it, but the rear tires do cause extra compression of the grass so it doesn't cut as well. If a finished mowing job is desired I'd definitely go with the MMM. I'd also say that connect time is really not much of an issue.

I agree. It is so quick to hook up, easy for visibility, that I will never have a RFM.

We went to the dealer yesterday afternoon and are getting the 60" instead of the 54" because of the width issue. We also ordered the loader. It is soooo much easier with this tractor because of the room to maneuver area. I guess it won't be such an ordeal anymore when we need to sharpen the blades. I'm glad we got this tractor....then again, I was real happy when we got that BX, too!! Next Fall we're getting the cab, too because it'll be a lot better to have that snowblowing. They aren't going to have the cabs ready for this model until around August they said. It's more square than the others so those cabs don't fit it unless you stuff some T-shirts in the holes where it doesn't fit. ;) I sure am glad I asked you guys your opinions because it helped a lot! Thanks.

I own a bx24 and have a rear finish deck. I am not pleased with the performance in tall grass and bahia grass. I am thinking of getting a mmm and was wondering if anyone knows what the cost of a new one is.
