FWIW, folks, I did buy the
B3350 a couple of days ago, but after inspecting both 60" and 72" B series MMM decks, decided against a MMM. Rather I bought the FEL and the QH10 quick hitch in order to get the two implement incentive. I do not use quick hitches so my dealer let be trade it back in in the same transaction.
Currently, I mow my grass with an absolutely WONDERFUL B1750HST/Bi-Speed Turn and 60" MMM bought new in 1994. This is a GREAT MMM.
Though the lineage of my 1994 deck can be seen in both the 60" and 72" current model B series decks, they have been cost reduced so many times that I am now skeptical.
I like the 4 castering gage wheels on the 72" deck but do not like the half-yoke (L bracket) gage wheel supports as I believe these will have long-term durability issues. My 1994 deck has full yoke caster wheel supports. Kubota has also removed the center front and center rear anti scalpe rollers that my 1994 deck has.
The 60" deck has castering gage wheels on the front only. It has two center mounted gage wheels on the rear and a decent anti-scalp roller on the right rear but a totally inadequate anti scalp wheel on the left rear. More troubling, the dual rear center gage wheels do not caster. I R & R my current MMM each spring and fall. To do so, I drive the tractor onto a couple of layers of 2X6 to gain clearance and roll the deck in/out from the side on a concrete floor. Yes, my deck is called a drive over but my way is actually quicker and easier. BTDT. I can envision no easy way of R & Ring the current B series 60" deck (not a drive over) without castering gage wheels. Anyone have a better idea?
