I have been looking hard at the MX4700 for almost a year now, and I've finally gotten a quote from my local dealer. We've been haggling for some time. The tractor is equipped with the LA844 FEL with quick disconnect round back bucket, 3rd function valve, front grill guard, R4 tires, and HST. The price quoted with tax and the $2000.00 rebate is $24,877.65
I'd like to know if this is an ok deal or if I can do better. Any comments you can provide is appreciated.

Pete

On Saturday I bought an MX5100, the cousin to the 4700. I got 4wd, the same fel, gear driven ( I just prefer it ), ag tires, ballast in the rear tires for $23,500 delivered after the 2000 rebate for cash. Hope that helps.

I bought mine with LA844, Quick attach, HD round back bucket (grill guard is part of the loader package), R4 tires, bucket level indicator, all fluid and filters for 50 hr service and wsm for under 22k cash. In kansas for farm use there is no sales or property tax.

Steppenwolfe,
I appreciate the information. I think the dealer may have a little more give. I'll find out more tomorrow when I am at the dealers again.

Thanks,
Pete

JC,
What is wsm?

If you have the MX4700 with HST and all the above you got a whopper of a good deal. I'm not sure if my dealer will get anywhere close to that price but I am still
negotiating. Thanks for the information. Hopefully can close a deal tomorrow.

Thanks,
Pete

Pete,

WSM stand for Work Shop Manual. I have read it cover to cover and I'm really impressed with the design, safeties and ease of identifying and access. I did get gear rather than HST as the shuttle shift shifts like butta. My personal opinion is that HST is designed for continuous use and a lot of back and forth during a day. My use is more of occasional use and in the long run and short work gear would be easier and more economical to operate. synch shift from 3rd to 4th is extremely efficient and with the hanging clutch design it really takes very little effort to engage the clutch. HST would have added a $1000 so your price could be better but you have 3rd function valve to boot. $23500 seems to be excellent for your combination. Got nothing to lose by offering such. Part of the deal was for me be there to help uncrate and put the rig together. That was priceless.

JC,

I had two quotes from my dealer for Mx4700 and L4600 within $150 of one another. I paid full for a L4600. Later, within a week I accidentally found out L4600 was assembled in Thailand. They did not believe me till they actually came and inspected a HST L4600 on the lot. Although I found nothing wrong with L4600 went totally cold on it. Dealer has not ordered the L4600 yet so I told him either I get MX4700 or a full refund. They were and are very nice people and gave me no guff. Part of the original deal was also HD round back bucket that they honored it also with MX4700. The whole thing took 3 months but I was not in hurry. The day we put the tractor together I prepared lunch of Deer chili and home made french bread for the whole shop and front office. That sealed the deal perfectly. They did not even ask for the difference between MX-4700 and L4600 form the original quote.

JC,
I appreciate the information.
I ask the dealer this morning to quote me on the MX 5100 because the MX 4700 doesn't have the rear quick connect extendable links and the 5100 does. The cost to put these on the 4700 is $1265.00. That to me is crazy expensive. I have these on my current tractor and it makes life so much easier. It's not a deal breaker on the 4700 but I want to see the cost difference in the 5100 with the same options. So the haggling continues.

How about that deer chili recipe. Is it guarded or can you share your culinary expertise. We like deer and chili here in Mississippi.
