Thanks Leejohn, that was it.
On the front hydraulic block there between two of the connections there was a flat head screw that had somehow got turned. It seems to lock out the flow from the loader - I assume so you can get greater flow to the remotes.
Anyway, we just adjusted it and all is well now.
I really appreciate the support, it was a real puzzler and although it wasted a few hours of troubleshooting, it was a simple fix and saved us an expensive and time consuming trip to the dealer.
