Yes the side panel will go back on, but it is touching the filter and had to put a little pressure on the top of the panel. I plan on keeping my eye on the side panel to see if there might be some vibration that rubs the paint off the side panel. If so, then I plan on buying a new filter (if I can find the shorter one) and change the oil again. I thought I would leave the current one on unless I notice the rubbing causing a problem.
