My JD dealer sells filters for my F350 pick up truck. The filters are made by Fleetguard. The oil filter has JD printed on the casing. The fuel filters is exactly what I have gotten from International or the other part stores. When they have them in stock that is. The price the dealer charges me is the same as other places. About $10 for the oil filter. Can't remember for the fuel filter but it was in the ball park. The shipping costs are a couple of dollars and he is 30-40 miles away. I send him a note on Monday I get the order on Tues or at the latest, Weds. Sure beats going to multiple stores to find out they are out. Again.

I bet for every time I managed to find a filter in a part store I made one other stop when they where out of stock. I was in a store a few weeks back looking for oil for my dad. They did not have it, which was no surprise and they did not have my filter. I just checked for grins and giggles.

I'll gladly pay the shipping charge so I don't have to waste my time and milage.

If you want expensive try my local NAPA store. They are about 50% HIGHER on hydraulic lines and connections than my dealer. I bought a little itty bitty oil filter for my DR Mower and it was over $5. It did not fit. And they could not take it back since I had prefilled it with oil. They just looked at me like I was an alien. The "they" are the owners of the store.

My dealer actually stayed late for me one Friday evening after closing to make me a set of hydraulic hoses for a log splitter I bought at TSC. The hoses where $100. I'm sure NAPA would have been $150-200.

Later,
Dan

Well..your 100% right about NAPA..thats why I ONLY buy things there that I have to have RIGHT this minute.

I'll gladly buy FleetGuard filters onlne..and do...but I wont buy a KUBOTA filter Oline and pay additional shipping. They arent anything to do handstands about..as is their "dino" oil.

Do you want good oil or do you want good price? At the same price as the Kubota branded oil sells for..Id go with Chevrom Delo in the bat of an eye! For $2 more a gallon..I went with a SYN oil! Its not like Im doing oil changes every week or anythng
Sully for what we choose to sell for oil which for engines is the Case-IH the Delo doesn't hold a candle to it! The basics of the oil are no where 's near the sulfated ash levels nor is the TBN close to a good grade but it is about average. Will the oil of your choice make a difference in life of the components of your tractor, yes will it matter to you, I guess not.

Well..the Case-IH oil may well be better?? I dont have "jugs" of various oils here in front of me to compare them...BUT..we werent discussing Case-IH oil anyway....we were discussing the oil thats branded KUBOTA!

There is MILLIONS of over the road semi's using Delo..and Rotella-T also..both of which people here look down their noses at. AND 2 of the 3 "local" tractor dealers in my area ( not all Kubota) SELL and promote Rotella-T for their customers!

There are FAR too many people that post here on the BB quoting "TBN'S" and TNT's and "ABC's" and all the other "fuzzy feeling" numbers that for better than 95% of users dont mean DIDDLY in actuality! AND..that STILL doesnt get around the FACT..that you can buy BETTER oils than the Kubota branded oil for LESS MONEY many many places. The "better oil" is for the owner / operator ro determine for himself!
How about lets compare Kubota "dinosaur fat" at $3.20 a qt at the Kubota store to Mobile 1 diesel rated ( and HIGHER rated at that) for $3.59 a qt at Wally Mart! Higher...sure..better???? 40 cents a qt on oil.spred over 200 hrs usage...I mean lets get serious!!!

Can someone tell me of a synthetic substitute for Kubota UDT/SUDT for the transmission/hydraulics?

Amsoil Synthetic Hydraulic Fluid (ATH) or Chevron Synthetic Hydraulic fluid (THF) or PetroCanada Synthetic Hydraulic Fluid (DURATRAN).

The utilization of any of these synthetic hydraulic fluids really makes for some smooth operation of the FEl, BH, GST, and HST! :D

I agree with most. The classification of oil products has pushed the large manufactures to have a very similar product - watch for the API classification S - is for gas engines and C is for diesels. I have not looked recently but I suspect we are up to SI or SJ and CG or CH. Once that is established the only thing is to worry about consistency - is the manufacturer testing there manufactured product to consistently achieving the rating.

Hydraulic oils as certainly a different issue. Some companies like Petro Canada has focused on cold weather whereas a QS or Pennzoil is primarily concerned about the less cold US markets.

Synthetics certainly have their place. I like the synthetic Hydraulics because of the amazing specs but less of a fan of the motor oils. I don't see the extra performance in an engine - the regular oils do a good job and we have seen them work for decades. The ordinary CH oil have all kinds of additives to do the job that is expected.

The only feature that seems good with synthetic oils is the extended oil change period. I have seen too many good things with regular oil changes to extend the period - would you change the oil after 1,000 hours - I don't think I am willing to gamble.

So if you are changing regularly then stick with a good quality fossil based oil.

I agree with the filter comments - the companies like Kobota go out to someone to make their filters - good products include fleetguard, baldwin and so on. I'm not a fan of Pennzoil or Puro - their metal shells seem to be really thin - I am sure that there up to specs but I don't know if they can really handle the extra pressure a start up. The price is almost the same so I would stick with the ideal of having enough "new steel" to make it last.

SM on gas oil, and I believe I'm seeing CJ-4 on the commercial stuff.

FWIW I dont pay too much attention either.

Not wanting to offend anyone or start an oil war, I post the following as information only. Kubota's web site on MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets)
Kubota Tractor USA - ROPS
Lists the manafacture for Kubota Oil and Paint. Several individuals have asked in the past who make oil and paint for Kubota. Safety handing information, and other technical information on Kubota's oil and paint can be obtained from the site.

It would appear from this Web Site Kubota receives it oil from Ashland Distribution of Columbus, OH and it's paint for Diamond Vogel Paint in Orange City, IA.

Ashland Oil, I am familiar with, never heard of Diamond Vogel Paint.
