Kubota L-2501 HST
I had a Kubota M4900 for about 14 years. It was a very good tractor and served me well. I usually relied on Wix to supply my filters but had a weak moment and went to my Kubota dealer for 2 hydraulic filters and 1 oil filter. The Wix filters were usually around $40. I have done a lot of research on Wix and they are proven to have excellent filtration qualities. I don't know who makes the Kubota filters but the 3 filters for my M4900 were a few pennies short of $100. I'm sure they were no better than the Wix and I suspect they were not as good.

Anyway, I sold most of my land, sold the M4900 and bought a smaller tractor. I took delivery of a L2501 HST about two weeks ago. It is a nimble little tractor, the fel is a wonderful device (my old tractor didn't have one) and it mows my 12 acres pretty good, although very slowly. I bought the L2501 because it falls below the requirements for a DPF filter. Although the new DPF systems are working pretty well right now, I was concerned about having to keep them going years down the road, after the warranty is gone.

After about 15 hours on the little L2501 I ran over a stick (about 1" diameter) that kicked up and went into my fan. Thank goodness it didn't go into the radiator. It did break one of the blades off the fan. I finished what I was working on (after I got the stick out) and it worked fine for a couple of hours. I called my Kubota dealer and inquired about a new fan. They didn't have one in stock but they offered to order me one for $144, plus tax. This little fan is about 4 ounces of PLASTIC. If I can't find an aftermarket part, then the one I have will just have to do. I don't know who is making a ridiculous profit on this "genuine Kubota" stuff but somebody is laughing all the way to the bank.

If anybody out there knows where I can find aftermarket parts for this little jewel, please let me know.

THANKS

You run that broken fan and I’ll bet you’ll be quoting a radiator sooner than you’d like.

If you financed it it may be covered by KTAC. Not sure if your damage would be covered but others have said theirs was.

I agree way expensive, just bought 7.5 gallons of super udt2, and both hst filters for my rtv-x 900, for part of it's 200 hour $241.51. It did take me 3 years to get to 200 hours.

Parts in general are outrageous. Go price something green or yellow.

I spent almost that much on a new fan for my MGB 35 years ago. Tractor parts in general are expensive, but have you priced car parts from the dealer lately? One hose on my Ram 2500 (it must be special because it has a V in it - three ends) is almost $90 and I have changed it twice in the last three years and it smells like it is starting to leak again.

TBone, if you run your tractor with that broken fan blade, it will be overheating very quickly. Better replace the fan before you have to spend a lot more to fix the engine.

I don't think it's a Kubota thing I have never got a bargin at JD or NH either . Bought 2 raditors one for a bronco I built with a 460 wanted the biggest one I could fit. Payed 250$ bought the other for a supra payed 750$ The Bronco's was at least 3 times the size. I guess someone is paddling the parts from japan 1 at a time.

It's probably a supply & demand thing. How many fans get damaged per that make of tractor/engine.

As for filters? When my JD 4105 was new (and me too), a situation came up in the field where I needed to replace the fuel filter. I didn't know if my little local auto shop carried a replacement so I made a dash to my dealership (4 hour round trip) to get one... heck, they even opened up early so that I could get it.

Later on (after haying season) I stopped by the local auto shop and asked if they did carry that filter, which they did (generic YANMAR). The price difference was only A$1.18 more for the JD green.

So, no, I personally don't believe that I've been ripped-off by OEM.

Yep. The latch broke on my "Kubota" tool box - the little plastic one behind the seat. I checked and a replacement was $80 !!!
That's just plain ridiculous. I went to Lowes and bought a bigger Kobalt box that fits perfectly - $7. Seven Dollars. 7.

Shop Kobalt 17-in Plastic Tool Box (Blue) at Lowes.com

The only problem is the Blue Kobalt box sticks out like a sore thumb on the Orange Kubota. Makes me want to go buy a New Holland.
