Every year we take the kids (4 of em) for a week at the beach. Every year we have trouble getting a place to stay since MOST Motels/Hotels are geared to families of 4 or less. We are usually faced with getting two ajoining rooms, or rooms farther away from the beach than desired.
THIS YEAR was going to be different. I called in Feb and made reservations at the beach side motel that had a suite, two rooms and got the week we always like to go. They charged my credit card for the deposit and I got the confirmation number. The reservation was taken by a Hotel/Motel reservation service since this hotel is closed until May.
JUST TO BE SURE. . . I called this morning, gave them my confirmation number and low and behold, the clerk (back in Feb) messed up the reservation and double booked the room, and now we had nothing. They offered to refund our deposit since they had nothing available for six the week we wanted. Now I have to switch my vacation, change other plans because some bozo made a mistake. No appologies or explainations. Just no rooms. When I tried to negoiate a discount on a different week, I was told that it's not their problem, it's mine. I could pay full rate or I could go somewhere else.
Now THAT'S service with a smile!
