KUBOTA REAR REMOTES

Not long ago, while at my dealer, I asked about adding hydraulics to the rear of my Kubota... nothing serious, just something to adjust the top link (think box blade) and was shocked at the response... They were estimating $1,500 just for the parts... needless to say, I walked out... Now, I ain't very smart but there ain't no way it should cost that much... what'cha think?

Dougster,
Not sure what machine you have but I added one rear remote on my MX5000 and it cost me about $800 if I remember correctly. I about cried when I saw that the OP paid $425 per...I wonder what the difference was.

I've got an L2800.. nothing exotic and wasn't planning anything other than a hydraulic top link.. hoses and cylinder,.. maybe $250? another $250 for a controller? I need to look into this again... Geez..

That price seems a little high, although it's still expensive. I was quoted about $1000 for 1 remote. I thought that was expensive until I started pricing parts. The valve was about $300, stainless piping and fittings add almost that much again, then you add the labour to install it all.

The L series is one of the lines that Kubota does not offer a remote "kit" for, you have to piece it together.

I remember reading on several threads that a single remote cost about $700-900 depending on dealer and so on. Granted this was about two years ago so add more $ for inflation. I personally lucked out. The tractor I bought had a remote installed and the owner didn't even mention it before i went to look.

The Kubota OEM remote hydraulic options for the L series are famously (or infamously ?) expensive. The Kub installation is nicely integrated into the operator's station and thus involves more labor to install, however a good hydraulics shop or knowledgeable owner can add equivalent hyd remotes for quite a bit less money. Depending on who is doing it, the end result can be a neat installation or pretty crude.

Okay, educate me. I have a double acting hydraulic cylinder, top link, blade angle, etc. I move the have handle to extend or retract cylinder. Cylinder stays in that position until I move valve handle again. That is why I say closed center, because cylinder holds position. So where does the terminolgy open center come from? Thanks. Philip.

Others have explained it well so I won't repeat it. Other common terminology for your valve is "tandem center" or "work ports blocked in neutral"

on kubota build your own an L40 remote costs $233 for the double acting valve and $519 for the 1st level and base kit (plumbing to the valve). these prices are for a cab tractor, so $752 list price. I think I've been quoted around 1100-1200 for two remotes. For 3rd front valve, list is $900, I've been quoted around $750 with a new tractor. buying them separate from tractor is probably more like list price.

I just got a quote on installing two rear remotes on my B2630 from my local dealer when I purchased it. He quoted me $1200 which is just about MSRP according to kubota's website. I declined thinking I could do it myself cheaper even if I bought kubota parts.

$1200 is nuts for a single remote I paid $450 for mine including instalation on my L3400 when I bought it in 2008. I don't think that the price went up that much since then? I did have mine instaled when I bought the tractor maybe that saved me more than I thought?
