I'm not sure that I understand your question. What do you mean by "free floating"?

My RTV dump control has a "Float" position that allows the bed to be raised or lowered manually. It also has a restricting plate that holds the dump control in neutral after raising or lowering the bed.

The valve has three positions... power up, power down, and float. However, if what you are hauling is heavy toward the rear of the bed it can give a little up and down over rough trails.

I'm guessing you've done is missed the middle position on the valve and went full float.

Welcome to the forum!

I'm going to move your thread over to the Kubota section to see if someone over there knows.

My RTV900 has a 3 position (well 4 with the neutral position). Push toward the rear raises and if released it returns to neutral. Then push down on notch to power lower the bed. IF you push harder it goes into float position and you can raise it by hand in that position.

If yours is floating, I suspect that you are pushing the lever too hard in the down position. Just slack up on the force used to move the lever. If it is in float position, you will need a bit of force to pull it out of float and then it will self center in the Neutral position.

And if you go up a steep hill, loaded with wood, lever in "float" position, you will most certainly unload your wood. Not that it's ever happened to me...... :)

Actually there are 4 on the lever. The middle pos between power up and power down ( where it normally sits) locks the bed and all the way forward (past power down, all the way forward) is float..If the full forward is pushed on the lever it detents in that position, like the float detent pos on a tractor FEL.

If I have a 4 speed transmission there are actually five positions for the shifter, but I've never saw it counted. :D

Yes, yes, four if you like to count that way.

Richard, did you know if you leave a wet round bale in the bed overnight in early March it will freeze in place? I've also been told if you back up and slam the brakes to dislodge said bale that the front tires can come off the ground about knee high.

I heard all of this third hand of course, no one I knew.

I'd like to have seen that!!!! :)

The first load I hauled with my RTV was dirt with the tailgate down. I was surprised how light in the front the machine was.
