Just got a new Kubota 1120D. And love it. The wife Luvs it to more so than the quads I sold to get it. With 0% financing swinging the new one was easy. Added a winch and a front driving light. Plan on adding a rear work light and rino liner to the bed. This is definitely a little tank, though I got it stuck in some deep mud out back but that winched saved me. Was thinking about the windshield but after the reading what you all wrote I will forgo. Hers a pic

I don't know if they make glass windshields for the new one but if they do that is what I would get. I had a 900 that I installed a glass one in. Never any issue with it. The first time you are driving in in the rain or snow you will figure out why you WANT a windshield. Also, even though you are only going 15MPH if it is cold out there you will be cold as well and appreciate getting the air off of you.

As a side note: Have you checked the rear wheels for movement on you machine. I believe yours has the new IRS on it. There seems to be a very common problem with the new units. If you jack the front up you will no doubt find that the wheels have movement/wobble in them. Also, if you jack the front up the bottom control arm (a-arm) will slide front to rear in the pocket that it sets in. I am attaching a thread you may want to look at. My RTV-X1100C has these problems as do many others. Right now many are waiting to see what Kubota is going to do to correct the problem. I included a couple threads about the issue. These are mostly on the 1100C but both you machine and these have the IRS.

For plastic windshields, store them out of direct sunlight. Before cleaning rinse off with fresh water then use a soapy clean cotton rag or micro fiber to wash it down, then dry with a clean cotton towel. Never ever use paper towels on plastic/lexan....all it does is scratch the surface each time & before you know it it's cloudy.
Also don't ever use products containing ammonia on lexan or plastic as it will cloud them prematurely. I have the glass windshield on mine and I think it is well worth the $800 initial cost. Brother in law has plastic WS on his gator and one can barely see thru it when facing the sun. The glass WS has tip out brackets at the bottom so you can get some fresh air circulation during the summer when in motion which is nice.

Hi combustix,

I was wondering how many hours you had on the new machine and if there were any complaints so far. I was also wondering if you've seen any signs of the wheel problems others have been mentioning?

Thanks.

Installed the Kubota glove box and rear work light today. The glove box should have taken a couple minutes, but took a bit more due to the way one of the wiring harnesses was run, had to bend a bracket out of the way by an inch or so, no biggie. Work light went smooth. I'm a little bummed that I have to use the ignition key to open and close the glove box, kind of a pain.

Could you pick up an extra key and just leave it in (or even glue it?) to the lock so it would function like an integrated latch handle? This assumes you are not going for security. When I bought my used RTV1140, I asked for an extra key and the dealer gave me a handful from a box he had. I have 4 keys now??!!

I wonder if there is a way to rig it up to work without the key. I should probably assume there is a way, any previous experience or ideas?

I would think there is a way to get it to work without the key. Any pictures of the lock mechanism?

Only put about 16 hours on the RTV so far, but it is one heck of a tool. I wish the stock HD tires shed the mud a little better, but hey, they're stock tires and do pretty well considering. Was out today with my little guy buckled in beside me and the rest of my posse on their little quads behind me. Good day!
