I think you answered your own question /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The bottom line is that the quality is much better and the blower will likely last a lifetime for most users.

More than likely it is a simple matter of supply and demand. The kubota snow thrower is a specialty item. Not many are produced (compared to MTD,TORO, ARIENS). There is also a lack of competition so the markup is way over what MTD could charge say..Walmart. Plus you have to buy through a controlled dealer. Let's face it. Its pretty much price fixing. If that kubota snow thrower costs more than $1000 to make I would be shocked. When you figure all of the above in then you get 3k+ prices. Where else can you go if you want a front mounted snow thrower? No other real options.

I agree with everything you said tarscraper. There is one alternative though that I've been considering and that's Erskine. They have a great reputation and their blowers supposedly make Kubota & JD blowers look like toys. You can check them out at www.erskineattachments.com (don't know how to do a link). They are the only generic front blower that I know of and they work off the rear PTO so you don't have to have a tractor that has a mid-pto. Which interests me because I really like the L3400 which doesn't have a mid pto. The only problem is they aren't any less expensive than the Kubota blowers. I'm considering either a B7800 with a Kubota 60" front blower or a L3400 with a Erskine 60" front blower. I've got to believe the L3400/Erskine combo would be unstoppable!

I expect this kubota blower to be unstoppable as well, i spread deicing materials on the 3 pt with my sitrex spreader so erskine was not an option. My 1st kubota blower was a 2560 on a B7500, that was a good matchup, however, i had to have about $300. in custom welding modifications to beef her up to commercial duty. I blew through drifts that were half way up the windshield on my curtis cab no problem. Based on my experience with the 2650, i expect the 2782 with the increased hp of the B3030 to move mountains, my primary concern is that my cd player doesn't skip! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
