Kubota SUDT..?

All three of my Kubota manuals state to change out the hydraulic fluids @ 400 hours, not 300 hours like you said for your B-3030? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

When you rely on a hydraulic to perform nonstop for 400 hours of hard work, it always pays to get the best. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Mine says tranny MANDATORY at 50 hrs..and then every 300 hrs after that?? Might be because of the smaller capacity?? 4.0 gallons for the HST tranny AND the rear end both ( all one single casing thingy??)

Yikes that is a tiny amount for so much power?

Our L-3130 holds 11.1 gallons in the tranny and the L-39 holds 15.5 gallons! But at least the L-39 has an oil cooler mounted in front of the radiator to keep it cooler.

I hope your B-3030 has an oil cooler too with that small amount of hydro fluid, things would heat up in a hurry with 30HP running through it. Another good reason to use the Super UDT though.... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yeah..it does. Not much of one...but its called an oil cooler..??

Kubota recommends SUDT for my B7510HST.
I've seen threads on TBN where people have had problems using UDT or other brands in HST-type tractors- sluggish performance of the tractor drive and of the FEL.

My simple-minded belief is that these problems may arise from differences in viscosity grade (VG), i.e. in kinematic viscosity at 40 deg C, among these hydraulic fluids.

The VG of SUDT is 45.

So far Chevron THF W with a VG of 34.4 is the closest I've found to SUDT that has a lower VG.

So if I were to opt for an SUDT substitute, Chevron THF W would be high on my list. Don't know what that stuff sells for, but I'd be surprised if it's more expensive than SUDT. Anybody have any price info on the Chevron stuff?

Well..for the $77 for 5 gallons I figure I can "afford" that.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif...because I wont EVER put a lot of hrs on my 3030...and it only uses ??..4.3 gallons to start with. Its not liek some BIG machinery liek the guy told me that uses say 45-50 gallons of the stuff... /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Other than that 50 hr deal...the next is at 300 hrs and then 600 hours? Heck..I'll be long dead before I ever get 600 hours on it.

At that price it's an easy decision.

I went the UDT route and can tell a difference when it gets really cold. Things slow down some as Skypup has posted previously. No other issues that I've experienced. The confusion on the UDT/ SUDT for the 3130 manifest's on Kubota's end. Assuming you have the same manual I do, Kubota list both fluids in their lubricants chart on page 67 for the transmission case, which is what most people would reference. However. on page 68 they recommend SUDT for "optimum protection and performance". I'll be back to SUDT on the next change and I'll likely do that one a little early.

EDIT. Sully disregard the manual pages. I thought you had a 3130.

You're entirely correct. After paying $12,600 for my B7510HST/LA302 FEL, the $40 difference between what my Kubota dealer charges for 5 gal of SUDT compared to TSC's or Wallymart's price is negligible, especially if there's a possibility that one of the second source brands will cause some loss of performance in the hydraulics.

Bugstruck, I did run Kubota UDT after the first change out in our L-3130 GST and it really was brutal on the transmission shifting, very abrupt shifts that STRAINED the entire tractor and it loudly acknowledged it (and that was in 95*F Florida weather).

Changing back over to SUDT and now to the Amsoil 5W-30 synthetic hydraulic fluid made all the difference in the world, now there is no strain or whimper whatsoever, just ultra smooth shifts and operation, not to meniton much cooler hydraulic fluid operational temperatures. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

As Sully2 mentioned, "It Really Is Liquid Gold" , because using anything inferior will really cost you a bundle..... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

10 yr old thread but SUDT has gone up to over $100/5 gal. and they put a 2 on the end now----so there--I still use it but whine about it
