Does anyone know the flow specs for the M59's auxiliary hydraulic Flow Rate and Pressure?
If so, are the 3rd function or rear remote rated for continuous flow? Any limits?
I can't seem to find any of those specs in the operator & shop manuals.

Maybe someone knows about using auxiliary flow to run a continuous hyraulic motor.

Post your project when you are done!

I was thinking of a chainsaw on a boom or a shear attachment for the BH running off the thumb circuit. I suspect not enough flow for the motor.

The problem I see is not the flow, but the heat. How efficient is the hydraulic radiator and coolant system at keeping a constant flow for a hydraulic motor at a reasonable temperature? None of the Kubota literature has specs for any of that. ...but it isn't just Kubota, nobody else does either. John Deere doesn't even publish the flow/pressure/temperature for the auxiliary hydraulics on their commercial backhoes. And we know that they and their skidsteers sometimes run hydraulic motors on and off all day.

We can make some M59 guesses - but all they are is guesses. If we start at 16gpm and system operatingpressure, the auxilary flow should be in the region of 12 to 16 gpm at system pressure minus a few hundred psi....call it 2600 psi.
(13 x 2600)/1714 = 20 hp.
So you should be able to run any 20 hp hydraulic motor at its rated rpm. Surely - guessing now - an M59 system looks like it should be able to do that for several minutes with some period of cool off in-between consecutive uses. Probably we should put a hydraulic temp gauge in the system for making sure,

That is all pretty conservative guessing. I wonder why nobody publishes hydraulic specs?

Nor do they publish specs on the engines radiator ability to keep the engine cool.

You couId install a temperature sensor with indication available to the operator of the hydraulic fluids temperature it the outlet of the hydraulic radiator and/or anyplace else that concerns you.

If the tank holds what the flow rate is, 16-17 GPM, so a 16-17gallon tank in this instance, then the tank should have the capacity to have the oil maintained at a cool enough temperature.

Your issue might be that the 1/2" couplers are only rated for 12GPM for a constant flow without heating the oil. So you may need to up size the couplers.

Another possible issue that I have read about a while back is that the Factory Kubota 3rd function controls are not rated for constant use and will end up failing.

If any of this is true for your exact application I have no idea, this is just general information.

I definitely think the hydraulic cooling system won't keep up with continuous flow. I can't accuse K of over engineering their equipment...they tend to build to keep things lightweight. You will need aux cooling for sure.

Yes, Kubotas are lightweight, and I appreciate that they are.
It makes sense to put some gauges on the M59 and see what capability it has.
What gauges and where?
