Just thought I would post a couple of pic's of a on going project that I am working on. The customer needed access to the lake from his back yard. The hurricane we had a while back left a lot of wood to be dealt with, and no way to get to it with equipment. The problem is a major hill down to the lake. The neighbours have built steps with landings to access the water. This works for water access but doesn't get equipment down there to do any work, and is quite the uphill walk as well. So last year I looked at the project and figured I could zig zag across the hill and would then have a trail/road for access. I finally got back to do the job and started the first of this week. The first pic is of the excavator on the slight slope directly behind the house.

Here is another pic's of the hill. The pic doesn't really do justice, probably do to the angle I was holding the camera.

This is the first cut on the hill. I have already made about 100' of road before this pic that has a little less slope. I tried to make fill as I went so I wouldn't have to dig out too much on the upper side.

initial slope to upper pat of hill. This will be covered with ground cover shrubs to prevent erosion.

This is why we did it in the begining. Chipping the brush will take about 2 days initially.

Now that we have gone this far we might as well put 30 amp buried service, drainage ditch on inside of the road, positive tip of the road to the bank to prevent erosion/runoff, geo textile under crusher dust for stability and easy walking and might as well put 6 or 8 lights/lanterns on poles mounted in concrete bases so you can see your way to the dock
