Kubota tractor parts?

TalonDancer hit the nail on the head. Parts availability has to do with volume. Look at the Ford 8 and 9 Ns out there - or the MF 135. I don't know if Ford or MF make parts for these tractors but even if they didn't parts availability would be great... there are just so many of them out there.

Your best bet for parts availability is to buy a well selling model, no matter which tractor you buy. I'll also bet that companies like Kubota are using the same parts in way more models then they ever did before. Economies of scale.

There was a time a several years ago where parts support was lagging. They made some changes and today we find it very good.

Personaly, I think Kubota has one major step above many company's in that they build their own equipment. Almost no one really does this anymore, so your not only dependant on the selling company but also the company that built the parts that you need parts for.

Almost all OEM's have a PPOP (product phase out plan). It goes something like this (using BX2350 as an example):

Direct parts support for a vehicle will be sustained for xx years. Typically 15 years is used. So, for instance, once there is a replacement for the BX2350, all parts in the BX2350 are available for 15 years.

Part substitutions - During the production life of the BX2350, newer parts may be introduced on other tractors. These parts my be used as direct or kit substitutes for the BX2350. If you order a seat, you may get a seat from a B2685. It bolts up directly, and is a substitute for the OE BX2350 seat.

As time marches on, and 15 years have elapsed, it doesn't mean you can't buy any parts for the BX2350. Many parts can be replaced with upgraded or replacement parts. Castings and specialized machining parts are the first parts to normally go obsolete.

Higher volume unit sales help in the extent that third party companies become interested in providing will-fit parts. Ford 8N's are a great example. I can't even start to count the will-fitters that are manufacturing parts for Ford.

Contrary to belief, OEM's are reducing their long term service parts support. You won't see as many companies supporting products for 30 years. The trend is to have a more defined support plan, and move people to newer machines.

ooooh ooooh I second Messicks, been really good to me with ZERO complaints, they even PHONE me when they had questions about MY order, and I'm in Canada!!!!

I'll third that. I am in Canada as well and Messicks has been good to deal with . I got the parts and service manuals for much cheaper than I could have locally even after shipping and UPS fees.

Another good source is tractorsmart.

I'm considering buying a new M-Series (7040 or 8540), and I plan to keep it for a while for those you with older Kubotas are the parts easy to get for 15-25 year old tractors?

My B8200 figures out to a '85 manufacture. The only part I have needed, is a u-joint for the front drive shaft. Otherwise it has just been filters.

As I see tractors getting more widgets and stuff, I don't think years from now those will be supported.

I am not sure either, that you will find part like I do for my '41 Farmall-A. I needed a governer spring; Case/IH had it on the shelf at the dealer. A 65 year old tractor...(when the spring broke a couple years ago)
