I sent some pictures of my MF 50 to the owner of the 135. He wants my tractor (MF50) and $5000.

Seems like a decent deal to me. If anyone has a comment I am interested.

Thanks.

IIRC, Then it was listed at $8k? At that I thought it was $1-2k over priced (closer to $2k) That's saying only $1-3k for your trade. If it were me I'd offer $6500 cash and keep the 50. It's a beautiful little machine and would be nice to have two. Unless you are really worried about the maintenance on two machine (though you shouldn't) I think that would be the way to go for the small amount more - or have him take the trade in price down a little.

7 yrs ago I bought this masey165, 55hp perkins diesel with back blade, and a 2 bottom plow for $5g. If that helps put price into perspective.

Great looking tractor. I looked around at 165's and they seem to sell for $5000mol and have 5000 hours.

That makes me wonder what is the 'too many hours' number on a tractor? The 135 I'm looking at has less than 1000 hours and looks it. I think this is why it's price on the high end.

I know small planes like Cessnas etc have a number of hours number for complete engine overhauls. Do tractors have a known life (age)?

I'd say you got a great deal. Nice looking tractor, btw.

I've always heard that gas engines in tractors use more fuel, don't last as long, and lose power with age. Also, more maintenance. I'm not mechanically inclined, and I'm a tractor novice, so someone with more experience may confirm or refute these ideas.

Also, what someone said about the front axle on the 135s sounds like what I heard about 135s with loaders and is similar to my dad's front end issues with his 245. I really like Masseys but at that price for a gas model, I'd think twice.

But then again, I could be completely wrong! Wouldn't be the first time ;-)

Frank, im a firm believer, if you want something, and you can afford it, get it! I know that the under a 1000hrs deal is what really got your interest, so go with your heart bud! And youll be happy! And thats all that matters!
