Scott, I agree. I hope someone here in the forum will be able to answer the question, as to what alternative blades I can use?

Thanks

Biggest differences seem to be blade width (+1/2" on 7 Iron) & slight difference in material specs (but I don't know what the "f" adds).

Worst part is they don't appear to be interchangeable due to hole size & length

I had the same problems with my 54C mower blades. I got some gator blades and they seem to be much stronger. I have hit several rocks and have had no damage to the little wings. The gator blades don't get beat up nearly as bad.

To tell you the truth I haven't been to impressed with the whole mower deck. The gearbox has started leaking already after a couple of years and I have had to re-weld the brackets that hold it to the tractor a couple of times. Heck, when I first got it they had forgotten to put the key in the shaft where it connects to the universal joint so it quit spinning halfway through mowing the first time.

Thank you for the reply. First of all, I have tried to located Gator blades for my deck, and have not been able to. Do you have a direct number for Gator manufacturing? Second, I have been told, but need to verify, that the better JD 7-Iron deck will not work with my JD 2305 tractor. I told the dealer when I purchased the tractor that it would be used for lots of mowing time, that I required something on the commercial grade. I now come to find that the 7-Ron deck would have been my choice. Furthermore, I discovered yesterday that my deck is already apparently bent, but not sure, will investigate further today. Will continue to pursue a better deck, or blades, and worth case, I will upgrade the tractor if necessary, where I can use the 7-iron deck.

One thing you may consider is converting to a RFM for your 2305. The C series decks are really homeowner level decks not meant for hard usage. They will mow well and do so for many years, but they are not meant for heavy duty mowing nor are they able to handle heavy rocks, etc. without being damaged. No 7 iron decks are compatable with your machine, which is too bad. Your best option is to go with a RFM Frontier or equivalent. Your machine will power one up to 60" and they are much heavier duty than what you have now. I even think they cut a bit better, and are much easier to install and remove. I had a 595 which mowed great with a 62c deck, but it burnt out two gearboxes in heavy grass, both of which were repaired under warranty.

Does anyone know if there is any type of modification, where a 7 Iron Deck can be used with the 2305? I would really like to see JD make a 7-Iron for the 2000 series. I wonder why they did not make one, was it weight? I will look into the RFM Mowers.

Thanks

The John Deere blades may be made in China. The other day, while looking at a new John Deere brush cutter, I noticed the gear box had "Made in China" all over it. Just a thought.
