Kubota vs. John Deere...

In the larger sized tractors, I am biased toward JD. Overall weight and construction is just heavier. JD, Case and NH really know the ag end of tractors. I live in NE and kubota's are nearly nonexistent in the bigger ag sector. I looked at a Kubota M9000 a couple of days ago. It just doesn't have the overall heavier construction in the lift, frame, drawbar compared to JD. Cab ergonomics and style also nicer in the JD.
In the CUT and utility tractor segment, both make very good tractors.

Go to the Kubota forum. I am sure you will get the best advice there. The John Deere forum is too biased!!!!

I could not disagree more with Kubotafan. This thread and many others on the green forum bend over backwards to give the best advice within their ability. Many JD and Kubota owners have experience with both orange and green tractors...good and bad, pro and con, it's all here on the green forum as well as the orange forum. So take Kubotafans advice and read all the orange threads...learn as much as you can. Once you get your tractor, (whatever color it may be) and log plenty of hours, share your experience with the forum in a positive way. Barring any major shortcomings or mechanical failures, I hope you have enough pride in your tractor to believe it is the best one in the world. Enjoy!

I have been looking in the 40-50 hp range for 2 years and have been comparing Orange v. Green. It seems like, for the same money, the Orange rig has hydrostatic where the green was shuttle shift. I work on some steep hills and drive a standard shift truck, the clutch thing would not have been difficult for me but I went w/ Orange with HST for the same price and even threw in a rear remote for no extra cost.

I must admit that my lawn tractor is green. Both companies are top notch. My 4 year old as to which color hat to wear, orange or green. You can't go wrong with either.

But I am a rookie at this so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I think he was kidding when he wrote that. While owners in either forum will give advice slanted towards that forums equipment, that doesn't make it bad advice. Few have the luxury of intimate exposure to equivalent K & JD equipment, so few can give truely balanced advice.

This thread is about as balanced as it gets, with great advice to spend time in the seat and buy what you like. Green or Orange.

It would be interesting to learn what the original posters needs are ....

In the CUT tractors Orange and Green are very comparable...when you hit the medium size utility tractors, particularly if you want a Cab, then it all changes.

Green in the bigger stuff 5000 series and up is in another league...particularly if you want a cab and/or you are looking for features. Electronic hitches, E-PTO's etc.

Owned both and several....my thoughts on subject.

Dave

ps. new owner of a new 5525 Cab tractor....hoping for either a JCB Fastrac 2115 or Deere 6430 soon.

Welcome to TBN!

Your question is a good one, too bad there are no hard and fast answers! Both companies are top tier tractor producers. Both are 100% imported up to about 50 hp or so, then the JD might be domestic. Can't remember the break where they produce on shore - it may be higher hp even. If that's important to you.

Any thing under the 8000 series is built across the waters. Only two of the deere series have factory builds here the 8000 and 9000 series much the same as the CNH line-up only two chassis sizes. Some of the smaller series might be assembled here! Other wise they might come from any number of areas.

Thanks, john_bud. It would be a long day without any humor. We cannot take everything as serious as Engine66 did. The "!!!!" were there for a reason.

Sounds to me like we all need to get back on our tractors!!! HMM I will!

I thought that they do final assembly there. Take them out of the crates, screw on fenders, hoods, wheels, tires etc. All of the Deere lit I have seen states "assembled in" and that has a different meaning than "Made in".

I also thought the 5000 series was all from India. Could be wrong. Has happened once or twice ;). Would be nice if they were actually "Made in USA"!

yes, Augusta is just a final assembly point, where the parts come from is anybody's guess. point was more toward the 7000 series, I believe they are "Made" in IA. Deere's lit shows everything below the 5603 being of Indian origin.
