If this machine uses a Denso style starter like many Aisian motors, it may have worn starter solenoid contacts. There are two copper contacts under a triangular cover on the starter held on with three screws. If your starter looks like this, you are in luck, starter contacts are really cheap and easy to intall. To diagnose worn contacts, keep trying to get it to crank. When you keep trying it over and over again rapidly, the contact will probably hit just right and the starter will work. If this is the case, pull the starter and get some contacts.
