Check out the Ferris ZTR's. They won't beat you to a pulp on rough ground with their suspension. They sell a 28 hp Cat diesel in the 4500 series and a 33.5 hp Cat diesel in the 5100 series.

so i wonder how much this ferris thing is in a 4500 series? I duno if we even have a ferris dealer around here anyway, kubota is about 2 miles from here. I have not read one bad review on the kubota z turn mowers at the same time i do not see many crews with them, i think cost might be an issue with most crews, small gas units apear to be alot cheeper.

I sell Ferris and Kubota both. The Ferris machines are fast, the Kubota's are well built. A Ferris typicaly will out mow a Kubota, however they are not built as well and have way more wearable parts. You'll pay much more $$ for a diesel in a Ferris. It just depends on what your after, typicaly we sell Ferris to guys who do commercial mowing work because of the ground speed advantage, and Kubota to farmers and guys who appriciate good engineering.

just priced the kubota zd321 9800.00. sound right to anyone? gonna wait a month till its needed to buy it and have been looking at alot of models. John deere is way higher in price than the bigger z-turn kubota. I want diesel and looks like kubota is going to win again. anyone have any complaints with zd kubotas?

I own a ZD28 and have mowed about 7 acres for the last two years. Machine works perfectly, you may wish to get the bigger deisel as I did, the extra hp is worth the money. The only thing I will mention about all two wheel drive zero turn mowers is if your are going down a slope and the grass is wet you may find yourself going for a ride. They are heavy machines and once the gravity takes over pulling the handles back locks the rear wheels and away you go. I have used my neighbors BX on the same slope without any problem as the braking effect from the hydro 4wd prevents the skidding. Had the same result with my other neighbors JD (god forbid!!) 4 wheel drive hydro tractor....no skidding. In fact with either machine I can go down the slope at good speed and lift off the hydro pedal and the machine just stops. On the ZD if I tried that I would slide down to the bottom...sometimes pretty fast. It gets scary. I am now considering trading my ZD28 for kubota's 4wd f series. All I am saying is if you have steep slopes I don't believe you will be satisfied with any 2wd zero turn and may want to consider a hyro 4wd model for the braking effect of the front wheeels.

I was looking at the new ZD series this week and my dealer told me that the new ZD321 was underpowered and Kubota was working on a fix. He said that Kubota may change out the deck to a 54" deck. He said this problem is a result of the additional weight and the increased blade tip speed.

Last year I did trade my ZD28 for the new F3680 series. The new F series is a real nice machine with some major improvements from the old series with the biggest improvemt being the increase in blade tip speed. The 90 degree flipping of the deck makes it real easy for maintenance of the deck especially over the ZD series where it is real difficult to get under the deck.

I got a price of right about $18k. The only way to justify one (at least for me) would be if I could do everything with it and not need a tractor. I think I will always want a FEL and tiller, so I plan to get a ZD331. I owned an early ZD28 (had the stamped deck) for a few years and it was an awesme mowing machine.

I was quoted $17,600 for the F3680 with 72" side discharge deck.
