I have a ZG127s, that has the hiss of death. One cylinder has compression and the other hisses. I have read about the head gaskets blowing and suspect that this is the case. My questions are?
Will the new gaskets fix it and last?
Do I need to replace the engine?
Why will Kohler not admit they have an issue?
If I need to replace the engine, should I put a Briggs or a Kawasaki in it if it will fit?
Do any of you have a good used engine that will fit it for a reasonable price?
I bought this to help a very nice man get back on his feet by cutting lawns and doing odd jobs. I was extremely let down by the blow off email I received from Kohler. They do not have a problem even though they are on their 3rd re design on the gaskets. I have had Kohler engines since I was a kid over 50 years ago. They took a lickin and kept on tickin like a Timex.
This new stuff I guess is not near the quality and their customer support is below par. How many of you have had to replace their head gaskets and did Kohler even acknowledge they had an issue.
This will be my last Kohler engine.
