Well, on older farm equipment of more than a few years of age, you need to do something to replace the sulphur lubricity additives that were removed with the current low-sulpher fuels. There is risk to injector pumps for sure and I would expect longer term engine damage. It doesn't have to happen overnight but damage can happen down the pike when the reasons were forgotten. I believe this is accepted conventional wisdom in the industry. Just my two cents.

I am using DURALUBE upper cylinder lubricant, Walmart is now selling it in a 5.25oz bottle for 4.87 treats up to 25 gallons. does it work, who nows but it can't hurt, on road diesel is only 15 parts per mil on the sulfer content so this is got to help on the lubricity issue for injectors and pump wear..

I have been using Stanadyne Performance fuel treatment for many years and zero problems on many hours on many tractors. It gets used in my newer B7800 and L4300 because they were built before the low-sulpher issues of only a couple of years ago. So, my guess would be if the tractor was made more than a few years ago I definately would. As well, I'd use it on newer stuff until the fuel issues clarify themselves.

I too use Stanadyne Fuel Treatment and have had zero problems in 12 years.

20 years for me. Still running all the same injection systems with zero repairs.
Of course now that I have said that watch everything quit.
