I don't really pay much attention to the moderators which is probably a good thing. Just a seat of the pants observation tells me that Bird and Mike are the most active moderators. I could be wrong and apologize in advance if you are a moderator and spend a bit of time ensuring the integrity of this site. Harv is certainly one I appreciate as well. MChalkey and JohnMIII I certainly miss their feedback, but hey, what are ya going to do....

My guess is that the civility on this site has to do with the age of the participants. I would bet my tractor /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif that there are very few posters here less than 35 yrs old.

Judging by the amount of grandkid pictures we see, I'd say you're right. Being one of the younger ones (though not the youngest) at 29, I don't even have my own kids yet although I do have a smattering of nieces and nephews.

I really think this site showcases the "promise of the internet" - bringing together people with similar interests from different geographic locations to share knowledge & have fun. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's a general store atmosphere. When I found TBN, not long ago, it felt like walking into the general store in a small town. Folks were sitting and standing around the wood stove talking. They were talking about their tractors, and grandkids and the weather. All very much engaged in life. There's a bundle of good information being passed around. Some of it even about tractors and such. But, what really hooked me were the posts concerning the passing of a member's dog. The out pouring of empathy from everyone spoke volumes in regard to the value of this website. It reaches far beyond the advice and technical support given out each day. I read some of the posts to my wife and said "these are good people they care about their dogs and each other." Just like someone moving into any small town it takes us newbes awhile to fit, but thanks for havin' me over. It's a real good place to sit and visit.
