Kubota B2910
I'm brand new to the tractor world, and would be grateful for any advice. I'm about to purchase a tractor, and have narrowed my choices down pretty much to a Kubota B7500 and a John Deere 855. The Kubota is a 2002 4WD with about 300 hours on it. I belive it to be geared, not hydrostat. The asking price is $6800. The Deere is a 1998 2WD with about 120 hours on it. I suspect it is geared, also, but don't know for sure. Guess I should ask that. The asking price on that is $5500. Both look great.

My situation is I have a little under 20 acres that need cared for. That's about it. There may me some snow pushing involved at some point, but we don't get a whole lot of snow here. Perhaps a little gravel grading. I feel like if I go with the 2WD, I'm eliminating the possibility of ever adding a front loader for potential dirt work.

I just need some feedback and brainstorming on what the best route for me to take will be.

Thank you all.

Both are very good tractors & They are close on hp! I would have to go with the B7500, the 4 wd is a must for snow!

Those mini tractors have to be 4WD unless all you will ever do is mow the lawn

If you think a loader will be needed eventually.. keep looking. I can't speak for every area in the US but seems to me you could find a 4WD low hour tractor with FEL instead of finding a front end loader for a used tractor later. You might not be lucky finding an affordable used or new FEL for a discontinued tractor model.

You have almost 20 acres, maybe a larger tractor would be needed someday sooner than you think?

BTW the 855 has a hydrostatic trans. TractorData.com John Deere 855 tractor transmission information

Love my B7500 and I agree that 4WD is essentially. I also agree with irwin - used loaders are tough to find. With 20 acres, I can't imagine not having a loader.

You should give a little more details on what you plan on doing with the tractor. That might make it easier to help you choose.

Thanks, everyone for the suggestions. I actually ended up deciding on a Kubota B2910. An older lady about 20 miles from me has a 2002 model with 162 hours on it, and is selling it with the front-end loader and a brush hog. And is selling it well under what it's worth, at just over 10,000. I don't know if it's a recently widowed situation, or what. But it seemed like a great deal to me, for what looks like an extremely nice machine.
