Just got on L 4150. Hydraulics are slow and have been told that I might need to clean out the internal filter. Anyone know where that is located? Also need a manual for it. Is there a source available.? Any help is appreciated. mimudlar@strato.net John

Hi John - when you say the hydraulics are slow - could you say a little more about the symptom? Is the 3pt hitch slow to go up, or loader slow moving, or is the hydraulic shuttle taking too long to shift? (Maybe all different issues)

I had a L4150 HDT (hydraulic shuttle, 4wd) and it was great - I did have to adjust the pilot valve that controls how fast the shuttle works. It was set for warmer climates - smaller orifice. After switching it, shuttle shifting was much quicker.

To my knowledge, the hydraulic oil is filtered only at the spin-on filter - not aware of an "internal" one - but I'll look in my manual tonight.

Obviously you bought it used. If the hydraulic filter under the tractor to the right of the seat as you sit on it is replaced and its still slow then you should check the pressure while using the loader. The 3 pt. hitch has its own flow control to allow heavy objects like a bush hog to lower more slowly. Thats easily adjusted by a knob under the seat under. Rat...

P.S. How many hours on this fine tractor. I use the L4850.

I looked in my manual - there is just the external filter. Not even a screen in the pump. But the filter is just upstream of the pump so its a good design.

If this tractor has hydraulic shuttle, there is a priority valve that could be mis-adjusted (possibly in an attempt to make shuttle quicker) - if it isn't set right, there could be less flow to the 3 pt hitch and any extra spool valves - too much going to the shuttle. The shuttle speed is correctly adjusted by a valve up under the dash. The priority valve is on the right side - follow the hig pressure line from the pump to the first branch.

The factory workshop manual for L4150 should be available from any Kubota dealer - part no. is 97897-10722 list is $104 - expensive but its great. Covers everything in good detail. Hope this helps - DickB

Hi Dick,
Thanks for the information. Friend of mine with a samller Kuboda mentioned the extra screen filter that is on his model. Will check out what you mentioned.

Checked with the local Kuboda dealer and he said the the manuals come with the tractor and are not available for purchase. Live in a hick town. John mimudlar@strato.net

Thanks again.

Hi Rat,
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my problem.
Bought it used as I could not afford to get a new one. Well just let's say that put more money in other toys such as cars and bikes. Thanks for the info. Will check it out tomorow. Not sure how many hours are on the clock. Though someone did a nice clean up on it.... It has seen some better days.
John mimudlar@strato.net Thanks again.

He probably didn't want to go to the trouble of looking it up - but you can order it online by part number through Tractorsmart.com - very convenient.

Does this rig have hydraulic (clutchless) shuttle?

John,

You should be able to download an illustrated parts manual for this tractor for free from TractorSmart .
Mine has already been very useful when working on Larry.
