L 5030 HSTC Bad Saftey Switch

My L 5030 would not turn over to start. I could jump the starter and it would start and run fine.

I checked a safety switch under the cab. It is on the right side and if you press the switch button it will start.

Is this switch supposed to be depressed all the time? I can't find anything that moves when you depress the clutch that would press the button and engage this switch. There is a hole in the bracket were this switch is mounted that might have had some type bolt to adjust and keep the switch engaged.

Can anyone help? All I do now to start the tractor is have a buddy reach under the cab and depress this switch. It cranks and runs great. I just have to find out how to fix in case I don't have a buddy aroud everytime I need to use my tractor.

there are several safety switches... all must be in the proper state for the tractor to start... these include:

You gotta be in the seat. Else safety switch under seat prevents starting. I assume that this is the switch "under the cab" that you mention. It is possible to tape this switch down... allowing a start without you in the seat, but I don't recommend this.

You must have clutch pushed in... intellipanel will tell you to do this

PTO must be disengaged... intellipanel will tell you to do this.

watch intellipanel... it will tell you (except for seat switch) what is impeding the starting process.

Make sure that your HST pedal is not in the forward or reverse postion or it will not crank either.

Thanks guys. But this switch in outside the cab. It under the cab mounted on part of the tractor itself. Its mounted in a rectangle shaped bracket. If you were sitting in the tractor it would be under the floor beneath the high low shifter lever.

well..... not sure, but I just recalled that if you are in CRUISE then it will not start either... perhaps this switch is related to the postion of the cruise lever....which is just above it, as I recall...

net... you cannot be in cruise and start the vehicle...
