'L' Series Correct Frt Gearcase Shimming - Bevel Gear

On these gears the splined bore IS the mounting surface. If the gear wasn't generated concentric with the bore wouldn't all the damage be on one side?

Well, I was so disgusted (and POed) that I took both of the bad gears to my dealer Saturday when I went back for more parts. Everyone agreed that it was unlikely to have been caused by "something" getting between the gears since it happened on both sides and the damage was so symmetric on both bevel gears. The Shop Manager said they see the Kubota Tech Rep about once a month and said he would take pics and email them to him to get some help on this.

That's all I can ask . . . Hopefully, I will get some answers and some $$ assistance on this!

My vote is for improper heat treatment or poor metallurgical properties, most likely a bad lot of gears.

If some sort of foreign material had cause the damage I would expect to see damage on the corresponding meshing gear.

Hopefully Kubota will step up to the plate and help you out.
