I have a landscaper and would like to add a tractor.I need to do lawn renovation,brush cutting,snow removal and some small log skidding.I'm interested in the Kubota L series of tractors.there offered in 31,34,38,43,46 and 50 HP how do I know which is best for me.I'd also want either the FST or GST trans.Is the GST a manual without a clutch?My local dealer said the L series tractors range in price(FST) from $20,000-$27,000,does this sound right.Any other help would greatly be appreciated,thankyou all?

you really need to talk though exactly what you want to do with someome. If you want to run a 72" harley rake I'd say 3830 at the least. That will also run a 72" rotary cutter well. If you need the extra loader capacity the LA853 on the L4330 is an absolute hoss.

The GST is like a manual without a clutch. The prices qouted you are way high. If they include a FEL, then they are just high. For example, Carver equipment, www.carverequipment.com is advertising a L3130 GST 4wd for $12,549.

Neil Messick gave you some great advice. Based on what you've told us, the 3430 is the smallest I would go, and the 3830 will give you more torque per HP due to the longer stroke. He also gave you a good steer about loaders; if you can get by with the 753 loader, the 3830 is a great choice. If you want more loader, a 4330 with an 853 is an animal. I don't recommend the 4630 because it has the same torque as the 4330. That leaves the 5030, which has more 3PH lift than any of the Grand L's, and is physically the largest, but might just be overkill. The beefy front axle does allow for some awesome load-handling ability though, especially with a heavy implement on the back.
I think the Grand L's are an excellent value - I paid $24,950 for a 5030HST with 853 loader, HD bucket and quick-attach. Speaking of HST - I'd encourage you to seriously consider it. When working in the variety of conditions and terrains that you'll encounter in commercial work, the control that it gives you is amazing. The GST is also a beautiful transmission, but I much prefer HST for the types of varied tasks you describe. To me, the only advantage of FST is lower initial cost.
Good luck with whatever you end up with; while my gut feeling is that the 3830 might be your best bet, I think that any of the Grand L's would get the job done.

Dear Basic not only hit Steve Carver's site talk with Al Murray for a Smok'en deal on a Grand L. They were the 'umerbo Uno' (sp) Dealer That Kubota Dealer's Council went after for Internet sales two years ago now. They now let units set and idle to run the run hour meter up to sale as ' slightly used ' to beat the system. I think Neil will back up my story up if he particapited in the 'rub'. Don't be afraid to deal with them. Also check with Jeff Deem too in East Texas. They are a Big Ten Dealer too. Irregardless of what you get into with Kubota you can't go wrong! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
