The standard square back L2263 bucket for the LA723 FEL is 9 cubic feet. What is the capacity of the round back L2273 HD bucket?

I am trying to choose between the two buckets for the purchase of an L3830. I will be moving a lot of dirt so a larger capacity would be helpful. Also I want to move large rock and the HD bucket may stand up a little better.

And what about the TL1748 edge. What is the benefit to an edge? Will it help if I want to dig with the bucket?

Thanks

The LA 723 manual lists the standard duty and the heavy duty (round back) buckets at the same capacity. I would recommend that you go with the Quick Attach system as you gain 2 cu. ft. capacity plus a great deal of versatility. The Quick Attach would reduce the rated weight capacity by about 100 lbs.

The bolt-on edge simply takes the wear and stiffens the bucket. It also adds another 60-80 lbs to the system weight. As far as helping you dig a toothbar will make more difference.

I've got an L3830 with a four way off off a skidsteer, to be honest that is heavy but as I have said before I think I just might bend other things before that bends. I'm feeling that worrying about a few hundred lbs of weight isn't really that big of deal. I have tried to lift things and given up then the rear wheels, along with the box scraper come off the ground. Yes, I could put more weight on the back but not sure if I really want to. I would guess that the heavy duty is the way to go if you are going to be moving much rock.

I assume the Quick Attach system is something that makes it easy to remove the front bucket...I'm all for that. However will I be removing the front bucket?? What else goes on the front end? a dirt blade? There is no snow here in San Diego CA. I do want to move and shape the dirt. $ estimate for the Quick Attach? A couple of hundred?

And how does a Quick Attach system for the loader bucket increase the volume capacity of the bucket?

Thanks

In and of itself, the Quick Attach does not increase the capacity. Is is just that Kubota chose to build them that way. I have my bucket with a grapple and toothbar, pallet forks, a Hy-Reach Tree Shear and a grubbing bucket that I interchange on my L3130. There is a myriad of skid steer attachment that may be used.

I do not remember exactly but the Quick Attach adapter was $250-$300.

I switch most often between the bucket and the pallet forks.

I have a 721 HD bucket and the width is less the the square back version. This was an older version and I think it was 60" vs 66".
The HD bucket is VERY HD. I move rock and really like it. As for capacity the manual says to try and get 2/3 to 3/4 the bucket instead of 90% and you will move more dirt in the long term. This being the case, a HD bucket and square back would be pretty close to the same. Or so my theory goes at least /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
