North Cackelacky...FINALLY.
Tractor
None right now...
We seem to be in a neverending search for a replacement for our well used(abused) MF 40 industrial....we bought this not knowing much at all and it is not what we need for our place, mainly due to the transmission not being suited for bushhogging.

So...found a L2350DT with FEL(toothed bucket),less than 900 hours somewhat local.Asking $7900.This is a dealer.

We have 17+ acres of land, mainly covered in pine that needs thinning and some areas that will be turned into pasture. We also have a 1/4 mile long driveway that needs to be kept up as well as a myriad of jobs around the place.

So is this tractor big enough for our needs?
What size cutter can it pull?

Suggestions,thoughts and ideas welcome.
Our budget is less than $8000.

The general rule of thumb is 1 ft of brush hog/rotary mower for each 5 PTO HP. PTO HP is what is actually getting to the PTO, not the gross HP of the engine, so that probably has just under or about 20 PTO HP. So you are probably looking at it being best suited to a 4' brush hog. Maybe in grass kept short and not trying to clear new areas, you could fudge it to a 5' one.

Well then, that particular tractor won't do.
That's a pity,it looks in nice shape and has a loader.
We already have a 5' cutter and we have a lot of brush that needs cutting...definitely not much grass...:D

If you like the frame size of the tractor then I would look for one with more hp.
If you don't care about the physical size then search for something with more power and capabilities. 25 hp is just not a lot to work with. JMHO:D

Well...price enters into it.
We have a very set budget.

It is why we ended up with the old Massey tractor we have...

That tractor will run a 5' although it won't run away with it. If you look at the other tractors with loader and four wheel drive they were more pricey.

If price is the limiting factor then the 2350 will do fine for you. I believe they are a well built tough tractor.:)

Well the dealer who has it is not interested in our old MF as a trade so we would need to sell it first.
