Does anyone know how to remedy a slugish and squeeky FEL on a L245DT? It seems to be squeeking in the hand controls and sticks. The loader works better with weight in it. The rear lifters work great, w/ no squeeking or sticking whatsoever. I cleaned the hydro filter. Should I open up the hand controls? What's in there anyway? The manuals don't mention the loader. I think they were an add on. Jeb

If it's squeaking in the controls, I don't know. But I think squeaky FEL usually indicate a need for grease in the pivot points.

Maybe I should say it is more like a squeeling sound than a squeeking sound, and it is definitely in the hydrolics and seems to be focused in the hand controls.Jeb

OK, Jeb, then I'll change my guess to the relief valve opening. You'll notice I said "guess." If it is the relief valve, then I don't know whether it's defective, whether there's an obstruction causing too much pressure and opening it, or whether it's an adjustment. I have a service manual for my loader, but don't know how similar it is to yours. Maybe someone else can help more.

First of all, is it a kubota loader? Is the squeeking coming from the loader control valve? Is there alot of play in the loader control lever? Is the loader control lever difficult to move?

The tractor is from 1977 and I am told that the loaders at this time were made for the tractor but not by Kubota. I do think that the sound comes from the control valve. What would it entail to repair this? There is play in the hand controls on both the tilt and the lift, they are not difficult to move though they do stick occasionally, and then the squeeling sound just continues until I jiggle them a little.

It sounds like what your hearing is the relief valve opening. The relief is most likely located in the loader control valve.
Do you have two seperate handles for the loader control or just one, most likely you have two. If the squeel is happening at the end of the loader movement that's relief. If the spools are sticking new detent/spring kits may fix the problem The valve is not really that difficult to rebuild as long as the spools do'nt have excessive wear and move smoothly in the bore. If it is a non kubota loader parts may be a problem. And it may be cheaper to locate a new after market valve. Check resources in the hydraulic tip and tilt post. The sluggishness could be related to the valve but also could be caused by the pump (does the loader have a seperate pump driven off the front of the engine ?) If the loader runs off the tractor pump check the diverter valve by your right foot where the hoses come out and go to the loader, should be a lever with roll pins for stops, are both rollpins there and are they straight, is the lever all the way against the stop pin. I think the lever has to be in the full clockwise position if the loader stops working at full clockwise then turn the valve full counter clockwise (I forget wich way) the valve is easier to move with the machine not running. One more thing if the control handles have alot of play they may not be allowing the spools to stroke fully, causing the illusion of slow and sluggish.

OOPS!!
Just realized you have a 245 I had B8200 on the brain for some reason. Most of what i said in the previous post still applies except the diverter valve is different.
May be just a srew driver slot, same principle though.
