L275 Kubota - Water in oil pan

   / L275 Kubota - Water in oil pan #11
Hello KubotaL275,

I have the same issue, problem is below the head gasket!

Poured water into block goes straight to oil pan in seconds.

What was your solution?

Thanks!

thanks everyone for your input. im not sure how long it was ran with coolant in the oil because it is at our farm and my uncle mainly uses it (or should I say used it), it will be a few weeks before i can get it to my house to start the tear down. i will let everyone know whats going on with an update when the tear down begins.

Cracked water jacket?

I know that old Ford IDI engines had issues with cavitation that would result in cracking of cylinder walls (opening into the water jackets). High compression, too thin of cylinder walls plus trapped air in coolant resting against the insides of the jackets was the cause. The "solution" was to use a special additive to the coolant.

A compression test might be able to differentiate. If compression numbers didn't show meaningful departure from spec then figure it's the block (below compression and oil ring travel).

No idea how big such cylinder wall cracks tend to be, or whether they could account for such rapid coolant loss.

What had the engine been doing up until the point where you suspected you had a problem?
