North Cackelacky...FINALLY.
Tractor
None right now...
For sale about an hour away, seller doesn't have a whole lot of info on it beyond the model and such.
Tach works sometimes,so hours are unknown.

What should I ask him, what are the trouble spots?

Thanks.

That may be a fair price depending on the condition of the tractor. I traded in my L275DT with loader for $5,500 this past spring. For its age it likely would have been rated a 10 out of 10 for condition.

I was offered $6,000 from another dealer but it is all relative to the final price of the whole deal.

Here is the data I sent to one dealer:

===============

I bought it from a Kelowna grape-grower who had purchased it shortly before from Byeland Nurseries. Byeland used it for light nursery work and it was serviced its whole life by Avenue Machinery in Kelowna.

Some features of the L275DT:
- I added a new Allied 195 front end loader in May 2004
- 4WD
- dual-range standard transmission giving 8 forward and 7 reverse speeds
- locking rear differential
- dual clutch for separate control of the PTO
- calcium chloride ballast in rear tires
- power steering
- operator manual
- drawbar

Summary of my ownership:
May 2004
- purchased tractor
- 1753 hours on tractor
- All four tires were new at that time
- Avenue Machinery installed a new Allied 195 loader (cost about $4,800 + tax installed)

Fall 2004
- clutch problem- it would not disengage
- Avenue Machinery Vernon completely serviced and checked tractor
- installed new clutch
- rebuilt starter
- some minor parts changed on steering

January 2011
- Avenue Machinery Vernon completely checked and serviced the tractor. No problems found or repairs needed.

March 2011 current hours = 2240

==============

The January 2011 service was done when I had a problem where the 3 point hitch would not raise. But it fixed itself on the truck ride in, and we did not investigate it further.

The tractor was great but hard to start in cool weather and being 30 years old, things are bound to fail eventually.

I likely could have sold the tractor for anywhere from $6,000 to $7,500. But I could not guarantee it and did not want the responsibility of something failing if I sold it privately. The dealers know these risks.

Here are some pictures showing the condition and a .pdf with data for the L275DT from Tractor data.

Okay, went and took a look at the Kubota.

For it's age,pretty good shape,a few dents.

So the issues.

Needs tires, front tires are done, totally trashed.
Rears might last a little while.
Leaky hydraulic lift arms,he is going to have one repaired, but didn't know the other was leaking.
On the front end, there is a little play, but upon closer inspection it looks like the plates on top of the hubs were loose, four little bolts could be tightened by hand.
Tach doesn't work.

Asked best price,he said $5000.

i seen one sell at a auction about 2 months ago for $2250 it needed new front tires and a paint job would be of some help but now leaks and was in overall in good shape

Front tires are suprising in cost. How long were the bolts loose on the front end? May have allowed some wear. Tach cables are always broken. The 2500 dollar tractor was a one time very good deal and should have been bought by anyone needing to put a fast 1000 dollars in their pocket. No two used tractors are the same. This is modern horse trading and keeps me from playing poker. I am out there every day and really enjoy it.

Rough pricing on tires was $190-240 each for the rears(wheel size 11.2-24) and $108-120 each for the fronts(7-16 wheel size).

So...offer what-$4800?
Only you can decide where you are comfortable. At $5k it's already in the fair deal category - I sold a decent L225 with loader and good tires for $6k a couple years ago.
