I've read with interest the post regarding a valve upgrade for the 3pt lift on the L2800 and L3400. I have an L3400 and I have noticed some shudder when using the lift. Has Kubota made the "good" valve standard on new units? If so, when was the change made (beginning with a certain serial number?). I purchased my L3400 in April of this year, and would like to know if I have the older style valve or the new one. Can anyone help?

Thanks.

You have the origional valve. I bought my L2800 in April and it had the same valve. You should be able to get it replaced under warranty like the rest of us that complained to our dealers about the shudder of the 3pt.
Kubota should have never built a valve that operated this way no matter if it is just a basic L series. The 3pt is one of the most used components on a tractor.

just curious, how much price difference is there between the valve that shipped with the L2800/3400 and the replacement 3010 valve?

Are we talking $100 or $1?

Hydraulic valves tend to be expensive. I doubt there would be much trade in for the old valve.

My dealer did the valve swap for free so I don't know about the price. I wouldn't put it off if you want the dealer to do it under warranty.

Talked to my dealer yesterday... he knows nothing of the problem or the fix... will check into it and let me know by the end of the day (yesterday, and it didn't happen...).

Does anyone have any documentation from Kubota on this issue? Service bulletin or something similar? Would be greatly appreciated. I'm having a gut feeling that this is not going to be an easy fix through my dealer.

I have e-mailed Kubota, but their website says to expect 7 day turn-around on answering e-mails.

Flakrat, mine was replaced under warranty so I have no idea about $$$.

Westbrooklawn, you may be the only one that has purchased a L2800/3400 from your dealer or nobody else has said anything to them to prompt them to look into it further.

This is what happened to me sorta...I was about the third person to purchase a L2800/3400 series from my dealer and they got on the ball and found the fix and have done several since.
You may have to call every other day to stay on em...since they only have to go to the Kubota dealer web site to find all the info they need.

I had the receipt from the repair and the valve was a little over $300.00 for the valve only. I will give you the part number and the exact cost to the dealer if I can figure out where I put the slip. My dealer just ordered the kit for the overunning clutch noise and is picking up the tractor on Monday to install. Kubota has the kit in stock and it is a service message. I don't think the valve was ever an actual service message. Of course it may be by now. When mine was done the dealer had to contact Kubota directly for the part. Good luck. Brian

Just got a call from Kubota, and they have approved the replacement of the valve on my L3400. The dealer has ordered the part, and I have scheduled the work to be done next week. I will let everyone know how it goes.

I am very pleased with the response from both Kubota and my dealer (The Tractor Place in Knightdale, NC). The funny thing is that the dealer wasn't aware of the problem or the fix until I brought it up. They asked me:

"how did you know about this fix... we couldn't even find it on our dealer web site, and didn't know about it until Kubota HQ contacted us as a result of your e-mail to them".

Kind of nice to know that a web forum like TBN can give us as consumers such a great edge... isn't it???

My dealer told me they found a note on the Kubota dealer web site about it. Maybe your dealer didn't look in the right place. In any case it's great to hear of the good response.

Got the new valve installed today... makes a world of difference in the smoothness of the operation of the TPH.

I don't think my lift arms are going up as high as they did before... even though the mechanic said he measured before, and then adjusted afterwards. I will probably try to adjust it higher myself.
