I bought a block heater at the end of last winter and never got around to installing it.

It is the kind that replaces a freeze plug--the only question is, which one? IIRC, the instructions said the one that's basically covered up by the starter. There is another one toward the middle or front of the block that looks wide open (easy to get to).

Any reason why this location should not be used?

Thanks.

No reason it can't be used - any convenient freeze plug is ok. There is a description here of the installation of a freeze plug block heater. Have fun /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks for the link to your installation description. That will help a lot, I really appreciate it.

I will probably try to undertake that little operation sometime soon. I'll post if I run into anything unusual.
