hello,I forgot to tell everyone the deal i got-I looked high and low,and decided my local dealer was the best-not moneywise, but best for me.called carver equip.and they were cheaper but it would have been $2000 to ship to Id.-still cheaper than I paid, but my dealer helped me and he didnt bash JD-he knew I was looking at both,I liked that-not so for JD dealer, I guess its just the personality of salesman. Kubota wouldnt match the 6.99% 0 down deal-I got it on the rental for sale deal.I love the tractor and I have one bit of advice for anyone who cares-get as big as you can-I have no plans on mowing my lawn with it and I can allready see the need for a bigger machine(money not being an object that is).I love it! L3000 is perfect for me right now-Can anyone tell me what the best setup for picking up and moving logs around?how do I put some hooks on the loader?

Putty340 -

If the logs aren't too big, you could probably benefit from some kind of bucket forks. I've used my clamp-ons for toting all sorts of things, including logs. If you're not familiar with clamp-on bucket forks, you might refer to this post from a while back.

Just to play "safety mom" one more time, get yourself some serious ballast on the back of your 3000 before you even think about picking up a log. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Hey Putty,

Glad to hear you are happy and excited about your purchase.

You posted an excellent question as well. I will be moving some railroad ties for my father soon.

While I have alittle experience in this area it would be great to hear the advice of others. The main concern obviously is safety. I have seen chains with hooks on the end twisted around cross ties so that the chains can't move very much. Also, you want to wrap the chains around enough and tight enough for the greatest amount of tension (so the logs won't slide).

I know others will describe this much better.

Happy tractoring!

Steve
