I bought a used Kubota l3000dt last fall. It has a front loader woods backhoe, box blade and a rototiller It had 450 hrs. on it. I changed the oil and trans fluid. There is a couple of things that bother me about this unit. (1) the trans. hangs up when going into a pile of top soil. normally I am in high range. (I don't remember if it does it in low gear.) In order to get it out of gear, I have the clutch pushed in and then I have to rev. the engine to full RPM and while I am pushing the shift lever towards neutral it will slowly go into neutral, then everyting is fine. It only seem to do this while pushing into something. The other thing is there seems to be a knock in the engine/drivetrain when the clutch is released, as soon as the clutch is pushed down the ticking/knock goes away. What do you all think? Also I used Tractor Supply trans fluid that had the Kubota rating. I have presently have 485 hrs on it. Do i get rid of it???? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

First, I am not a tractor mechanic but it sounds like something is broken in the pressure plate and it is not releasing the clutch plate. Putting pressure on the clutch pedal might be taking up the slack and stopping the noise but not releasing the clutch plate. If it is anything like the clutch on a car or truck, it could be a broken release finger or springs. If that is the case a new clutch assembly will be necessary. I have no clue what that might cost, but with your low hours, worth considering. I would start off making sure the clutch is properly adjusted before I went further.

Doesn't sound good to me. I have to admit ignorance on this subject, but it seems to me that low range would be more appropriate to loader work than high range. Maybe using high range in some way is contributing to this problem? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Brian:

Just for laughs...have you checked the bolts holding the tranny to the bell housing. You say it only happens when pushing into material...could you be binding the tractor cocked-eyed, wouldn't take much if all bolts are loose to bind the shaft and if that is the case...could have something to do with it getting stuck in gear?????

Just a guess
