L3010 GST will not shift out of neutral

My GST shift cable on a L3650 froze up. I drilled a small hole in the shifter housing, shot it full of penetrating oil. Cleaned up the hole and placed a dab of silicone seal over it.
Works slicker than ever.

As for holding parts in place for reassembly a small amount of light grease will work fine.

Does anybody know how to re-assemble the rotary valve without the two indent balls falling out? It is killing me. Here is a picture with the springs. The balls are supposed to stay on the springs somehow while you insert the indent plate. I have no idea how.

Try some assembly grease . It’s thick ,and sort of waxy . It’s designed to hold things like springs ,ball bearings ,etc in place while assembling an item . It resolves with a little heat .
Sorry , included my response in the quote of the original post .
Doh !
