That will certainly hurt the pocket book. Let alone take some time to fix.

I put a stick through the radiator and plastic shroud; it was $400 for the parts.

Did you back up or did it happen while going forward?
I've done more damage backing up and having sticks and small trees that I have already ran over come up thru the bottom and damage lines, wires, etc. so I am just curious.
On the bright side, she'll be ok after some parts.

I had a similar thing happen with a small cedar tree trunk. Went up under plastic sides, busted through the fan shroud and poked a hole all the way through the radiator of my new L4400. Got quotes on new shroud and radiator and it was over $400.

I love Kubota but they think their parts are made of gold. No way was I going to pay $400 for a little radiator.

So, I pulled the radiator out and carried it to several radiator shops. They all looked at it and shook their heads. Can't repair aluminum radiators they said. I didn't buy that, they just didn't want to fool with it. Finally found a little shop outside of town, old guy looked at it and said no problem. Picked it up two days later and it was fixed. Cost me $80. I repaired the shroud using epoxy and some fiberglass cloth.

That was a year and a half ago and no problems.

A few months ago while walking across a farmer's field I found a bent steel rod about 4ft long. I picked it up to lean it against the fence when the farmer showed up and stood there waiting for me. I thought he was going to give me grief for walking on the hayfield. Instead he thanked me for picking up the rod saying it may have saved him a good deal of trouble. I had no clue why he said that, until I saw your pictures.

I'm sure this will make all of us more careful.

Vern1 , no I didn't back up, or atleast I don't think so. I was just mowing then heard like a stick in the fan, had some blue smoke. I shut it off, got off thinking i would pull a stick out of the fan, boy was I surprised.

InlineDieselFan, parts are; small bottom radiator hose, plastic shroud, upper flat plastic seal on the shroud, and the fuel bowl housing valve and bracket. I think the radiator is going to be ok. So I'm thinking hundreds to a thousand to start, all the parts are right at $100.00!

N80, The radiator is in the upper $300.00 range. Hope to have parts Friday so I'll see if the radiator needs attention.
