I asked my neighbor to pull me out with his JD 4440. I got stuck again near the same spot but I used the FEL to raise the front wheels enough to fill in the rut and drive out. Is that not good to do?

you're getting the hang of it. Raise the loader, put the bucket it full dump, lower it into the muck and curl forward while backing out. This lifts the front in the air and puts weight and traction on the rears.

Now, go back to the same spot tomorrow and practice.

(confession: I had my machine less than 8 hours - first day - before hitting wet clay and getting "stuck"; panic set in, then I remembered reading this technique on TBN )

We've gotten a little relief from the drought the past few months and I may have to wait for a drier time to get some of this underbrush. This is upland of my pond and if it gets dry enough at some point I'd like to dig a little minnow pond.
