Did my 50 hr service on my L3200 yesterday. Actually only have 35 hrs on it, but I wanted to do it before it gets colder. Everything went smooth. I only lost 2.5 qts of hydraulic oil when changing the hydraulic filter. I didn't have a helper to try the shop vac trick, but I jacked the right side of the tractor up about 3-4" hoping that would slow the flow of oil (don't know for sure if this helped or not). I had the new filter ready and got it right on. I happened to have 3 qts of Kubota SUDT on hand from my previous tractor so I did not need to buy any. Now I'm good to go until at least next fall :D.

The shopvac trick does indeed work

I tried something else yesterday, But I can't say for sure what the results would be on the 'bota. I did this with my Kioti. I put a #6 machine screw in the air vent. On the Kioti it is the rubber screw in stopper on the fill port. on your Kubota the fill port is not the air vent, the air vent is up under the seat. It is the "shepards crook" looking rubber piece with a hole in the end. Anyway I lost maybe 2 or 3 ounces of fluid when I removed the large vertical hydraulic filter. Not counting the actual fluid inside of the filter of course, but very little fluid dripped out while I was changing the filter. Now I don't know how much would have come out without the screw stuck in the air vent and I wasn't going to get up and remove it to find out. Here is a picture of the vent on the Kioti. Note the small hole in the end IMG_20130922_150416_989.jpg

I have the B7800HSD that is 7 years old, I use it a little less now but when I do I need a little more tractor. I have been looking at the L series 3200 and 3800 they are a lot more tractor in weight and abilities. I have a 72" rotary mower, 72" finish mower, and FEL. What implements are you using with the 3200?
Thanks,
David

My L3200 now has 275 hours on it, and I'm still happy with my purchase...great tractor! by the way, what exactly is the shop-vac trick? I know I heard about it when I did my 50 hour service, but apparently my Alzhiemers has kicked in!

Bluegrass, I don't know about Peterc38, but I have a BH77 backhoe and FEL, and it performs outstanding for just about anything I need to get done on my wooded 6 acres. the backhoe was well worth its weight in gold. Im looking to get a bushhog attachment soon because I have been offered jobs cutting down fields which seems to be hard for people to find at a good price. Not that I want to start a business, but extra money AND getting seat time is always a plus! I would highly recommend the L3200....its one tough tractor with plenty of power.:smurf:

The shopvac trick is to put a shop vac (turned on) over the hydraulic fill hole. It creates a vacuum inside the case of the tractor. Prevents loosing any fluid when doing a filter change or any other hydraulic work. It dont completely eliminate loosing fluid. But minimizes it big time.

PAPPASMURF, How much trouble is it to get the backhoe off? There is a woods for sale near me.

You can take the BH off in 5 minutes, but you have to factor in another 30-45 minutes to reattatch the 3 pt hitch arms and then attach the new implement. It gets faster/easier each time I do it.
