Anyone have trouble with their fuel cap leaking on the L3200? If so what did you do to fix it? Looks like there is a small nick on the sealing surface.

It appears that a small amount of fuel is leaking around the rim of the cap / tank when fuel sloshes around in the tank.

I have a b2400 and the fuel cap will not go on tight. When I tighten it down it pops off. I've replaced it once. The new one worked for a while. Then the new one would not tighten. What I do now is to place a rubber band around the spout and screw on the cap. This works until I have to remove the cap because the diesel degrades the rubber. New rubber band every fuel change.

I'm disgusted with the whole thing. Whoever heard of fuel caps going bad. And to make it worse the cost of a new one is like $20-$30.

Try going down to the local auto parts store pickup a piece of rubber cork gasket material (has ground ruber and cork in composition)cut a gasket a tad larger than the inside of your cap and cut the center out to fit in your cap.You can get different thickness's of this material Id try the thicker one first. It will compress everywhere except where your nick on the filler neck is and make a good seal also diesel will not affect it

Thanks for the replies. Well I sanded the rim down to take the nick out. Re-installed the cap and still have a leak. I am wondering if my cap might be the problem. Can anyone with a L3200/3800 verify that the inside of my cap has the correct seals?

My l3800 looks to have the same gasket as yours and will leak a bit when full if I don't torque it down a bit more than usual. I am planning on adding a viton o-ring to it one of these days.

I've never noticed any leakage on my L3200. I'll look at it closely next time and see if there are any differences. Which i doubt it is..

As I thought, mine is the same as yours. Although mine doesn't leak, it doesn't look like much of a gasket in there. I guess if mine ever does start, I'll use the cork gasket to seal it.
